My Boudoir!!!

My own space; all for me… The first word I say in the morning is ‘Evy’; that’s because I like it when she comes in first thing in the morning and we play for a bit before we go downstairs for brekky. Mummy and Daddy went shopping and bought a few things for me. My cot, my drawers, my froggy sock storer, my sofabed (well theirs when they sleep with me when I’m poorly and our guests when they stay over). My shelf unit (with toy storage boxes at the bottom – full to the brim), the chair that Mummy sits on and I sit on when I have my bedtime milk and the blind which Mummy made (it took her ages!).

There’s the alphabet and number mat which is great for bumps cos they don’t turn into lumps… I like my flower picture from my friend Bea in the US. My foot and handprints picture was done for Daddy on Fathers’ Day in 2008, he thinks it looks good in my room. I love my man in his flying ship; it bounces.

So this is where I rest my sleepy head at the end of a cram-packed, fun-filled day. I’m hoping to move up into the sofabed soon(ish) as I’m nearly hopping over the bars of my cot; with no finesse of course so I’d better move my mat over a bit so that when I go bump it doesn’t turn into a lump!

10 months on; and oh so much has gone on!

I must let you know what I've been up to... allsorts!

Not licquorice ones but the other ones, the active, chatty and brotherly ones... I've got so much to tell you.
I'll have to get on the ball again and let you know what I've been doing... and what Mummy and Daddy have been doing...
oh yes, and what sister Evie's been doing... I'll do a topic at a time and as often as I can, in between playing and eating and sleeping...

'AT LAST' I hear you say...

Mummy's been a bit of a slacker for a while. In truth, she doesn't trust me being on the computer on my own! She'd like to apologise though as the last update was even before she went back to work full time, which she actually finished 3 weeks ago... Having to take annual leave for 2008 all in one go before maternity leave which officially starts on 1st September... then my brother or sister will arrive 4-5 weeks after... I don't know whether to celebrate or commiserate...?

So, what have I been up to... what can I report...? I've been going to a lovely child minder 2 days a week, her name's Charlotte and she's got a little girl called Lara... Lara keeps on hugging me and won't put me down - I'm a bit of a catch you see! Now Mummy's at home I go only one day a week, this will continue until December time when Charlotte goes on maternity leave and I go to a proper nursery 2 days a week; Mummy says that she needs time with the baby and that it will be good for my development and social life!

I see Grandma Pat for a day a week too, usually it's at my uncle and aunty's house as she hasn't moved into our little house yet (because we still live in it). That means that I see my aunties and uncles at the same time, which is great as we have a right laugh and giggle for the day.

So how am I getting on in the development areas... Well, I'm now about 20lbs in weight, a bit short of where I should be for a 15.5 month old, only by about 4lbs though. I am crawling around and about the place very well and can pull myself up to standing if there's something or someone's trouser leg to hold on to. I need to work on this balance thing so that I can start walking... then I'll be off... have you seen any of the olympic athletics... that'll be me one day!

I'm eating chunky food as I now have 8 teeth and counting, Mummy makes me some yummy dinners but I still have some convenience jars for when she hasn't had time to get the pots and pans out - but she's getting better! I had my hand operation a couple of weeks ago. The released the restrictive banding around my middle finger and cut into the webbing either side of it and between my ring and little finger... It's practically all healed up now - but as soon as they'd done the op I was back up stairs on the ward with Mummy and Daddy and I pulled the whole thing off, exposing the bloody (as in blood) mess, they had to redress it securing it with tape to my arm... for the next 10 days I crawled and bashed it about and wiped my mouth on it when I had my meals... but it was always covered in a sock so that I didn't get the bandages dirty... I'm back to normal now though, it's so good to have it back!

In hopefully 3 weeks time we'll be in our new house. Daddy's been working VERY hard to coordinate workmen and himself doing all of the work. The only things left to do are the electrical fittings, filling in a few holes, sanding a few bits of wood (window frames and floor) and fitting the kitchen and a few other things... Mummy wants the first meal in the house to be a Sunday dinner, mmmm yummy, we'll all sit round the table like a proper family and eat our dinner at the same time... we'll all have our own bedrooms and as we've only got a shower at the moment, I can have a bath before bed time and play with my rubber duckies!

What else have I been up to... I've seen Gene, I've seen Justin... I've been to birthday parties and out to dinner and paddling and playing and I've had a barbecue and I've played in the sunshine and I've fallen off the bed again and have bumped my head and have eaten curry and roast lamb and a bit of squid (sucked it actually)... urm... and many more things, so many things that I can't even remember them all... Oh yeah, I'm getting good at riding my no pedals tricycle... I've only fallen off twice! I made Daddy's birthday present by painting him a picture with my feet...

Mr Bump...

A couple of weeks ago I had a day of clumsiness. Daddy renamed me Mr Bump... here's why. I'm getting very good at rolling over, I can do it in the blink of an eye now... it's just a matter of time before that blink of an eye means that I'm over the other side of the room you know!

The 1st incident was when Mummy changed my nappy and then went into the bathroom... I rolled over and then did it again and whacked my head on the box shelf unit thingy next to my changing mat... I had a nice 'line' on my head and a bit of a bruise...

The 2nd incident occurred when Mummy put me on their bed to have an afternoon snooze. She knew to put a double layer of pillows either side and one at the top as I squiggle and squirm around line no body's business... But she didn't put one at the bottom though did she... ESCAPE ROUTE! Which is just what I did... wriggled my way down to the bottom of the bed... THUD! Mummy and Daddy rushed upstairs to see me and I was on all 4's at the bottom of the bed. A bit shocked so I cried, but was soon fine and bouncing around! No concussion, no bruise, just fine - but it could have been awful really there were all sorts of obstacles to navigate on the way down!

I've got a groovy new high chair; the other one's at Grandma Pat's for when I go to stay... Mummy's going to get me a travel cot for Grandma Pat too... She has also put Grandma Pat on her car insurance as when Mummy is at work Grandma looks after me on Thursday's and Fridays...

I've got a great new cot... I might have mentioned it before, compared to me it's massive, loads of room to move around! I can even pull myself up to standing at the bars. Look at me in my first pair of proper pyjamas, Thomas the Tank Engine specials, they make me feel very grown up... I can even blow kisses now too!

Mummy went back to work at the end of May... she quite enjoys it, although I have heard her say to Daddy that she misses me! She feels that she's missing out on my learning new things, but then it's lovely to see me at the end of the day when I get excited and remember who she is! I really do like my child minder. I see Charlotte and her little girl Lara on a Monday and Wednesday. Daddy looks after me on a Tuesday and as I've said, Grandma Pat looks after me on a Thursday and Friday.

I'm only on this routine until Mummy finishes work to have my brother or sister, at least until she 'breaks up' from work to have holiday and maternity leave... at the end of July. I'll still go to Charlotte's on a Monday and hopefully Grandma Pat will look after me on a Thursday OR Friday...

I've done all sorts of nice things since going to Charlotte's. I've learned how to scream (Lara taught me how), I've been socialising and to art classes - I made Daddy and Mummy a little present, which made them go all soppy as it was the first one I've ever made them - what a pair! I've been to feed the ducks and I've been to soft play which is when there's lots of soft things that we play with!

It was Harriet's birthday on the 9th June... we went to her birthday barbie on the 7th and I had a great time, although I didn't really see Harriet... she was very busy socialising with her family and pals and had masses and masses of presents that she opened, her Daddy got very good at making a long list of who bought what! Here's a piccie of me and Gene together and one of our Daddies, hmmm, the Mummies said - they're as thick as thieves (not me and Gene - the Daddies!).

Daddy has been working hard at our other house. We're hoping to move in in August... which is realistic I hear Mummy say... Daddy says hmmm, but he'll get knocked out if he's hmmming too much, says Mummy! He's put in partition walls, he's insulated places and has put in windows and has done other things... We've had the electrics and plumbing done and the plastering is now been done... Mummy's looking forward to ordering her kitchen soon... anyone for dinner?!

It's Fathers' Day on Sunday... I wonder what I'll do for my Daddy... he'll have to wait and see! I might have to enroll the help of Mummy for a while to help me sort something out - but it's a secret... what's a secret? I didn't mention anything, did I?!

Mummy's driving me potty...

Hello folks; I'm a fast growing boy you know. I weigh about 20 lbs now and have graduated to my 'big boys' car seat. It's quite compfy and I can see things before they go past the window rather than 'blink and you'll miss it' when I faced backwards. I can see what Mummy and Daddy are doing now and they can see me a bit better. I'm very happy about this - however they do say that it's a lot safer to face backwards, so I've told Mummy and Daddy to drive extra carefully and to have their eyes peeled for those people that call themselves drivers but can't drive...

Mummy bought me a potty a few weeks ago. I hated sitting on it at first so she put it away; but I've now learnt that it's a great new seat. Mummy lets me sit on it every morning and evening so that I can get used to it. It's quite groovy really... I stand up, sit down, stand up, sit down and so it goes on... I haven't tiddled in it yet but I'm sure that Mummy will be delighted when I have; she already calls me a clever boy for just sitting on it... I can't go wrong! She says that the sooner I'm out of nappies the better, wouldn't it be great if I can wear proper pants by the time my brother or sister arrives!

Ellie and Gene's birthday parties were great! They both had a bubble machine - my favourite 'toy' (not that I play with it). At Ellies there were lots of babies and parents, we played party games and I won 2nd prize for pulling the most tissues out of a tissue box and also got a prize for opening the pass the parcel; Ellie's Mummy had wrapped a little prize in each layer so that we all got one. I loved playing in the paddling pool too, but got really worn out so had a well deserved snooze later in the afternoon, zzzzzzzzzzz!

At Gene's house there were me and Gene as the babies and there were Gene's cousins too. Gene's been poorly; he had to go into hospital on Thursday as he got a 'virus'. He's getting better now but the doctors can't say which virus it is... The symptoms were like meningitis - so needless to say that his Mummy and Daddy were stressed beyond stressed and both stayed with him that night... He was smiling again on Sunday; but I didn't get too close to him - I don't want to catch this 'virus without a name' thingy...! The party was great anyway, I met lots of his family and we had food and drink and a cake and the sun shone all day - it was a lovely Sunday avo!

This week sees more activity. Daddy's over at the house working hard to get it finished so that we can move in. The under floor heating's down and the screed on top, so all we need on the floor are the actual flagstones... The electrician started today - yippee, there is light at the end of the tunnel! The plumber starts on Thursday and it's all 'GO, GO, GO'! I'm going to see what they're up to this avo, you know, shimmy them on a bit!

I'm seeing Grandma Pat, Gt Aunty Andy, Gt Unc Terry, Aunty Leone, Cousin Maxi and I'm sure more folks this week. I'm staying all day on Friday with G'ma Pat, Gt A Andy and Gt U Terry - fun, fun, fun!

Harriet's birthday's the next one - she's jetted off to Austria this week, clocking up those air miles all ready... Come on Daddy, when are we going to Barbados? Getting further than the end of Long Compton's a difficulty at the moment; I should get a motorised pram so that I can take myself places...

Tartar for now though, moustache, I've got my morning beauty sleep to catch up on... I'm not the tidiest in my cot am I?!

What a fabulous weekend...

Thank you so much for everyone who came to my party and I'm sorry to have missed those who couldn't. It was such fun, I hope everybody else enjoyed it as much as me!

I am a very grateful boy to you all, for such wonderful presents. I am amazed at your generosity and am going to play with them all - Mummy says that I can't have them out all at once as it would fill our sitting room, but never mind her... I'll do what I like!

Here's some piccies from Saturday and a few days before... check out the muzzy on the head, Mummy hadn't got me a hat (she has now), so she had to improvise...

On Sunday I went to Grandma Pat's house to have a family lunch with all of the Gt Aunts and Gt Uncs... here's me with my cake and a few of the Greats!
I've got a party to go to on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday. Ellie was 1 on the 16th April but her daddy had a car crash so they had to put the party off for a bit and on Sunday it's GENE's 1st birthday. I'm so excited, it's just fun, fun, fun being 1, 1, 1!

Birthday Bonanza - A 3 day event!

I'm 1! I had a lovely day yesterday. I woke up and instantly felt older... no, not really... Mummy got me out of bed and took me to Daddy (still in bed). She got them a coffee and my birthday cards and bought it all back upstairs where we sat and opened my cards one by one! I've decided that envelopes are the thing for me... They're yummy and make a great noise when bashed!

I think I'm rich. Because I don't need anything as Mummy and Daddy give me everything I need, I asked for my Trust Fund to be topped up and boy wasn't that the case! I also got lots of presents; a book, a jigsaw puzzle, a nursery rhyme book, a piggy bank (with money already in it!), a Thomas the Tank Engine (with it's very own driver), a voucher for a groovy summer outfit, a set of ducky bath mits, a cement mixer (made out of wood that you can take apart and stack back together), a bubble making machine (Mummy especially liked this one) and a build your own cone with circles of wood that stack on top of eachother. So thank you to everyone, you've been very generous and when I see you I'll give you lots of smiles!

We went out for lunch with Grandpa Barry and Grannie Annie, and Grandad Martin and Grandma Felicity; that was lots of fun and I got lots of kisses and cuddles (not just from family but from all the lovely ladies at the pub!). Grandma Pat came round for dinner; she fed me mine and then made me all lovely and cosy for when I went to bed. I was a very tired boy by the end of the day...

I got 26 cards too and I think there might be more to come, Mr Postie might bring me some today and I've got a sneaky suspicion that something's going on on Saturday...

I'm right! Mummy's just told me that there's a special doo on Saturday when I'll see lots of friends... AND, on Sunday there's a family doo at Grandma Pat's house - I'm a party animal!

Anyhow, here's some more piccies of my day... I think I look as though I enjoyed myself... what do you think?!
